According to analysts at JP Morgan (via Reuters), Apple plans to move 25 percent of its iPhone production to India by 2025. iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are among the models Apple produces in India. Although Apple has made some progress in moving its suppliers and manufacturing facilities outside of China, the country still accounts for a disproportionate share of its supply chain.
Some JP Morgan experts predict that 5 percent of iPhone 14 production will be moved to India by the end of 2022, with a more significant shift three years from now. Analysts predict that by 2025, Apple will move production of 25 percent of its product line outside of China, including AirPods, Macs, Apple Watch and iPads .
Foxconn and other Apple component makers have spent a lot of time and money opening stores and training employees in India over the past few years. Rumor has it that Apple will begin producing iPhone 14 variants in India in the coming weeks, but the company’s reported emphasis on secrecy has disrupted production schedules.
