Geely Unveils Revolutionary Electric SUV Galaxy E5 with 2000km Potential Range

On May 7, Geely Galaxy took the wraps off its much-anticipated all-electric SUV, the E5, marking a significant leap forward in the brand’s electric vehicle (EV) lineup. The Galaxy E5 not only debuts as the inaugural all-electric SUV in the Galaxy series but also promises to redefine the EV landscape with its remarkable potential range of 2000 kilometers. The revelation comes as a beacon of innovation amidst the evolving electric vehicle market.

The eagerly awaited Galaxy E5 is slated to hit the market with an estimated price range of RMB 150,000-200,000 (USD 20,800-27,700) and is scheduled for an official launch in the second quarter of the year, signaling Geely’s commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions.

At the heart of the Galaxy E5 lies the Geely Electric Architecture (GEA), an innovative platform derived from the Sustainable Energy Architecture (SEA). GEA stands as a testament to Geely’s pioneering spirit, boasting the world’s first four-in-one intelligent AI architecture, encompassing “hardware, system, ecology, and artificial intelligence.” This cutting-edge foundation underpins the E5’s exceptional performance and efficiency.

Sporting dimensions of 4615/1901/1670 mm and a wheelbase of 2750 mm, the Galaxy E5 exudes a sleek and futuristic aura, accentuated by features such as a panoramic sunroof, concealed door handles, and striking 18/19-inch five-spoke wheels. Drawing inspiration from its predecessor, the Geely Galaxy E8, the E5 flaunts a distinctive design language characterized by a closed matrix light grille, sharp headlights, and stylish C-shaped vents.

The rear of the vehicle is equally captivating, boasting an integrated high-mounted brake light and the iconic through-type taillight package, featuring a mesmerizing wave-shaped light element at its core.

While official powertrain specifications are yet to be disclosed, Geely has hinted at the utilization of an 11-in-1 smart electric drive coupled with a Shendun battery, propelling the E5 to achieve a remarkable range of 2000 km. Additionally, a single-motor variant of the Galaxy E5 was unveiled at China MIIT, boasting a maximum power output of 160 kW and employing a lithium iron phosphate battery, with a declared maximum speed of 175 km/h.

Stepping inside the cabin, occupants are greeted by a minimalist yet futuristic ambiance, highlighted by a dual flat-bottom steering wheel, a head-up display, and a full LCD instrument panel. The centerpiece of the interior is undoubtedly the large central control screen, seamlessly integrated with the Flyme Auto operating system powered by the state-of-the-art 7nm Dragon Eagle-1 chip. Further enhancing the driving experience are features such as OTA updates, wireless mobile phone charging, and luxurious amenities like heated/ventilated/8-point massage front seats and a premium 16-speaker audio system.

The unveiling of the Geely Galaxy E5 marks a significant milestone in the realm of electric mobility, promising to revolutionize the automotive landscape with its groundbreaking technology and unparalleled range capabilities. As the world shifts towards sustainable transportation, the Galaxy E5 stands poised to lead the charge towards a greener, more electrifying future.
