Google’s Pixel 7 and 7 Pro Android flagships have just been released; however, according to a new leak, their mid-range counterpart the 7a is about to join them. The board claims that Amazon has conceded that its “launch announcement” is imminent. Then again, if that’s true, the successor to the 6a is going to do something it doesn’t do every year.
The Google 2022 Pixel 7 series is still only basking in the afterglow of its launch, not to mention the high DxOMark praise for its Pro variant. However, according to GSMArena, flagship smartphones may have to give way to the more affordable siblings that many consumers may have come to expect.
This new leak consists of screenshots allegedly showing that Amazon’s mobile app, perhaps with bad timing, is sending out invitations to a mailing list that keeps its subscribers informed about the launch of the Pixel 6a replacement.
This event is apparently for the “Google Pixel 7a Family,” a phrase that hints at several options, something not seen since there was a need for 5G and non-5G members of the series. In 2022, this could include the so-called “Pixel 7 Mini” of the previous leak.
However, as the launch of the “Google Pixel 7a and Watch” is also mentioned in this new leak, this line of speculation could lead nowhere, as the latter has certainly already been launched along with new smartphones.
Again, Amazon (the store that now lists the 7 Pro, albeit with a US$200 gift card instead of the free Pixel Watch) could mean that there is a Pixel 7a after all, just as there is one configuration in 2022.
