In a press statement, Apple mentioned the release of Mac and iPad Pro models. Apple released many new products at its last event in September, including the iPhone 14 series, the Apple Watch 8, the updated Apple Watch Ultra and AirPods Pro 2. However, it is possible that Apple has announced the October launch of the new iPad Pro and there will be no Macs.
Mark Gurman of Bloomberg , a reliable whistleblower, said in his Power On newsletter that Apple is “unlikely” to give a full presentation and may opt for a quieter press release about the latest products.
Apple was expected to unveil the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the M2 processor, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, and the M2 and M2 Pro Mac mini 2022 at its October event. This list of items is confirmed by Gurman’s email, where he also reports that the MacBook Pro will likely run on the new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors we’ve heard about before.
This new M2 processor was first shown off during WWDC 2022 in June, and can be found in the MacBook Air 2022 and MacBook Pro M2 for 13-inch screens. Gurman thinks Apple may not have enough for a mass launch because they have improved features and aesthetics.
There’s nothing radical here for Apple,” he argues. The author suggests that “the corporation (to date) is more likely to provide the remaining 2022 products through press releases, updates on its Web site and briefings with select members of the press.”
Apple typically holds one event in September for iPhones and another in the fall (usually in October or November) for iPads and Macs. Only in 2017 and 2019 did Apple have only one product event instead of two. Apple could have announced the new iPad Pro, MacBook Pro and Mac Mini at Apple’s September event , but it would have been too complicated.
Previous Apple product releases, such as the AirPods Max and the original AirPods Pro, have also been reported in press releases.
Gurman also predicts that an “upgrade to the Apple TV set-top box with A14 processor and RAM” will be released sometime this year. However, he claims that an M2-based Mac Pro could be introduced as early as 2023.
A recent Logitech listing may have hinted at an upcoming iPad Pro in 2022 . Gurman doesn’t give a timeline for Apple’s product announcement. However, given that the company often unveils new products around mid-October, we can assume that this year’s new products will follow a similar timeline.
